When we first spotted one of Kelso's small handmade awls in the wild, we weren't sure it's exact intended use...but we knew what we could use it for if we had to. 

A few emails later and .e. had one in hand. It quickly found a home on the elastic loops of a scapular, and has stayed there ever since.

The SmAwl measures just 2" long, and is made from 5/32 CRV steel.

We've since discovered a ton of uses for these. If you need to poke a hole in something, this thing will do it.

The size of the SmAwl is perfect for small kits and tins. Kelso recommends keeping one in a neck knife sheath.

A small length of silicone tubing is included with each one to protect the end and keep it from poking when it's not supposed to.

The Burro XL pouch is a perfect fit for the SmAwls. It measures just 1.25" x 3.25" when closed, and has 2 inside pockets to hold your awl and other small tools.

It's made with our favorite 420d Robic nylon fabric in black. Robic is a strong, lightweight fabric that has a ripstop weave and water resistant coating.

There are two carry options for the pouch. The bifold designs allows you to fold it over a cord, necklace, belt etc, then secure with the elastic closure.

The Burro XL has an additional elastic loop to attach the pouch to jeans/pants buttons for discreet carry. Loop the elastic over your button then button and zip up like normal. The pouch can then be adjusted to sit in the area right behind your zipper. (See pic)
